Sydney

Sydney Airport (also known as Kingsford Smith Airport) (YSSY) is Australia's busiest airport handling 33,612,270 passengers in 2009. This airport has three runways, each colloquially known as 'North-South' (16R/34L), 'East-West' (07/25) and 'Third' (16L/34R).

Arrivals

Flights arriving from New Zealand should expect to be routed via the MARLN5 arrival. For most runways, this arrival ends with vectors and the controllers will vector you for the appropriate ILS or visual approach.

Departures

Flights departing for New Zealand are routed via the same departures based on the departure runway. These SIDs terminate in radar vectors. ATC will then direct you to your first waypoint to get you underway.

Aircraft that operationally require to use RWY 16R/34L or RWY 07/25 must notify ATC at Clearance Delivery Stage. International departing aircraft including B767 and below may request or be offered departure from RWY 16L/34R.
