Dunedin city and harbour, and the Otago Peninsula

Dunedin International Airport (ICAO: NZDN; IATA: DUD) serves the Otago region on the South Island's south-eastern coast. One of New Zealand's oldest cities, Dunedin rose to promenance as the result of the Otago Gold Rush of the 1860s. Known today mainly as a university town — it is home to New Zealand's first university: Otago — Dunedin remains the country's fifth largest centre. As well as seeing significant domestic traffic, it is also a growing international gateway with the recent introduction of regular direct flights to Australia.

The airport's single runway (03/21) is 1,900m (6,233ft) and is serviced by a terminal area to the north of the runway.

Because of the runway length, and the limited parking area at the terminal, most real-world flights are operated by B737/A320 or below.

The passenger apron and terminal is accessed via a single taxiway approximately two-thirds of the way towards the north-eastern end of the runway. Depending on the active runway, pilots may need to backtrack for arrivals and departures and should endeavour to do so as quickly as is possible to minimise delays to other flights.

Note: terminal space is limited in the default FS scenery. Pilots should ensure they have FS set to ignore damage from contact with other aircraft as the confined space increases the chances of other pilots connecting to the network in your location. Pilots wishing to spectate after their arrival should request taxi to parking on the grass area to the east or west of the passenger apron.
