A skeleton crew will be staffing Christchurch (NZCH) as an alternative to Dunedin for pilots wishing to operate larger aircraft during Waves 2 & 3.

NOTE: Only fly this route if you are unable to fly the main Dunedin route; the focus of ATC activity will be at Dunedin during this wave.

Special Event Routing
The flight routes into and out of Christchurch are not the direct route flown real-world (which are approximately five minutes shorter), however the event routes keep the aircraft better aligned with the main flow of traffic to/from Dunedin and facilitates event traffic management. It also has the added bonus of adding an extra helping of mountain scenery to your flight!

Pilots taking part in the event are STRONGLY encouraged to file the event flight plan rather than the real world one. Aircraft on the official event routes may receive priority handling by ATC during the event ahead of those on other non-event routes.
